EVERY TREE COUNTS
NACHHALTIGKEIT GEHT NICHT IM ALLEINGANG
Many economic studies have concluded that reforestation is one of the few measures that truly works in the fight against global warming.
The deciduous and coniferous forests of our region are not only beautiful to look at – they play a crucial role in the ecosystem. Through photosynthesis, CO2 is converted from the atmosphere into carbon and oxygen.
The oxygen is released through the leaves of the trees, while the carbon is stored in the wood mass.
As a rule of thumb: One tree neutralizes over 1,000 kg of CO2 over its lifetime.
This is where our Höpke Goes Green initiative comes into play:
In cooperation with PLANT-MY-TREE®, we aim to plant as many trees as possible and reforest areas, contributing to a healthier planet.
PLANT-MY-TREE® carries out initial reforestation projects on its own land in Germany, previously used for other purposes.
Regional conditions are taken into account, and in consultation with forestry authorities, conifers, deciduous trees, shrubs, and hedges, as well as occasional fruit trees, are planted.
Over the decades, this creates a natural habitat for insects and wildlife. Planned project durations of at least 99 years, during which no deforestation or commercial use takes place, underline the long-term climate protection goals.
In 2014, PLANT-MY-TREE® was certified by TÜV Rheinland.
In October 2019, Höpke planted 1,000 trees in Bad Endbach (Hessen) and Wahrenbrück-Zinsdorf (Brandenburg).
By the end of 2020, an entire “Höpke mixed forest” with 5,000 trees had been created there – and it will continue to grow steadily in the years to come.
